This post smells like: A dragon's lair after a thunderstorm
What it is
A huge Dungeons & Dragons role-playing game where your choices actually matter, your companions have opinions about you (loudly), and a bad dice roll can ruin your whole evening in the best way.
What I loved
- Companions who feel like real, messy people. I have Feelings about Karlach.
- Every problem has five solutions, and at least one of them involves talking to a squirrel.
- Turn-based combat, so I can sip my coffee and think. My mouse hand thanks Larian.
What bugged me
- Act 3 is so packed my old gaming PC wheezed like it was climbing stairs.
- The inventory is a junk drawer. I am carrying 40 forks. Why.
- It will eat your weekend. Plan accordingly, tell your family you love them.
Verdict: Play it
If you have ever loved a fantasy novel and wished you could argue with the characters, this is that. Worth every hour.
